QUALITY PERFORMANCE OF DURUM WHEAT (Triticum durum L.) GERMPLASM UNDER RAINFED AND IRRIGATED FIELD CONDITIONS

Wheat is usually grown as a rainfed crop and no irrigation applied in most production fields. This study was undertaken to evaluate the quality characteristics of durum wheat germplasm under irrigated field conditions during 2019-2020 2021-2022 growing seasons. The experiments were laid out 12x12 alpha lattice block design with two replicates for experiments. Grain protein content, starch wet gluten content test weight examined 125 genotypes which consisted fifty local cultivars, nineteen foreign cultivars used Turkey, forty gene bank landraces (ex situ) fourteen (in situ). Supplemental resulted decrease grain but an increase content. Ex situ (17.48%) (16.62%) had higher mean values both conditions. correlation coefficient 0.82 between content-wet whereas it -0.77 -0.65 content-starch respectively. more dramatic years compared landraces. Our results indicated that ex have great potential terms characteristics. high genotypic diversity improved provided extensive insights future studies improve areas limited opportunities.
